Wanna get that “weeeeeee” feeling you had when you were a kid?
FOCUSfish is not a tackle store, but we do tackle some pretty big issues. FOCUSfish is part of the movement, helping children and adults lead healthier, more active lifestyles, no matter the age or ability. FOCUSfish got its name through the realization that in our current fitness landscape, people need help focusing and could use some assistance in navigating the choppy waters of life by hanging upside down from a trapeze… dancing inside of a large hula-hoop … or even climbing to new heights on a long, flowing fabric.
FOCUSfish helps young children, develop these healthy habits early on; invites children and adults with special needs to partake in a program that is safe, but also challenging; and, inspires communities to find their courageous, inner performer and fit, outer body.
FOCUSfish believes creative physical fitness and circus arts should not be elitist sports, and only for the family that can afford $100 tickets for a show.
When Javier, a 10 yr old boy with a severely disfigured face, came to one of my family circus classes, he was frightened. A room full of kids and adults. Someone’s bound to stare or laugh. COlorful props and equipment hanging from the ceiling- I mean, it can be pretty intimidating. But, after an hour of swinging, spinning, bear-walking, climbing and moving to some really cool music, Javier said to me: “I want to join this class. This class will help me to be a Super Hero and then no one will ever hurt me again.”
FOCUSfish is a place to take risks, and become the best that you can be, all in a non-judgmental, explorative environment. This is the kind of environment our schools and community centers need. FOCUSfish is expanding to the inner-cities and we need funds to make these BIG TOP dreams a reality.
If you’d like to “hang with us” or see a community cirque show, or simply support our efforts by donating to one of our community programs, we invite you to join the movement, Become a FOCUSfish today!
